BRUNNERA - Brunn'era

Description of brunnera

This clump-forming perennial is commonly called the Forget-me-not Anchusa. It is a native of the Caucasus and Siberia. Brunnera macrophylla variety 'Dawson's White' is a pretty plant growing up to 18 inches high and spreading 24 inches. Its heart-shaped, green leaves are unevenly edged with creamy-white. Its small flowers are produced in panicles in the spring. They are bright blue and resemble those of the Forget-me-not. This plant is a good ground cover.

Potting of brunnera

Brunneras should be grown in moist, well-drained soil that is enriched with humus. It should be in a sheltered spot to prevent its leaves from scorching. It will flourish in a partially shaded position.

Propagation of brunnera

Increase these plants by divided them at planting time in the spring or fall, or by sowing seeds outside. They may also be propagated by root cuttings.
