BUGLOSSOIDES -

Description of buglossoides

This perennial is found wild from western Europe to Iran, usually on limestone. Buglossoides grows up to 2 feet high and wide. It has lance-shaped, green leaves and small, funnel-shaped flowers with 5 lobes. The flowers are produced in terminal clusters in early spring and early summer. They are red-purple when they first open, but gradually turn to a deep blue. It is a lovely plant to raise in a border or woodland garden. It is a vigorous grower with a dainty appearance that looks well with smaller species and especially with hybrid Narcissus.

Potting of buglossoides

Grow this plant in fertile, well-drained soil in partial shade or sun. Where there are optimum conditions, this plant will spread.

Propagation of buglossoides

Increase your plants by sowing seeds or dividing them in the fall or spring.
