DECUMERIA - Decume'ria
Description of decumeria
This group consists of two semi-evergreen or evergreen shrubs that climb by means of aerial roots. They are found growing over logs and on tree trunks in the wild. Decumeria barbara is a fairly tender, semi-evergreen shrub that climbs up to 30 feet. From early to mid-summer, small clusters of small, white, sweetly scented flowers are borne. This plant is found wild in the southeastern United States. Decumeria sinensis is a rare, tender, evergreen shrub growing up to 16 feet. The small, honey scented, green and white flowers grow in clusters, in the spring. This climbing shrub is a native of China.
Potting of decumeria
Decumerias can be grown in any soil in sun or partial shade.
Propagation of decumeria
Cuttings may be inserted in containers of sandy soil underneath a hand light in a frame, in the summer.
