This group consists of about twelve deciduous sub-shrubs and herbaceous perennials native to the Mediterranean region and the Canary Islands. Dorycnium hirsutum (Canary Clover) is a small, tender sub-shrub. This dainty plant annually produces erect stems covered with small, silvery-fuzzy leaves usually consisting of five leaflets. From late summer into fall, terminal heads of white pea flowers tinged with pink are borne. These flowers are followed by dark red fruit pods, which contrast beautifully with the silvery foliage.

Canary Clover can be grown in mild climates only. It should be grown in a dry, well-drained location that receives plenty of sun. The best place would be a rock garden.
