ERIOPHYLLUM - Eriophyll'um

Description of eriophyllum

These pretty perennials are found growing wild in dry scrub in the foothills and mountains of western North America. Eriophyllum lanatum forms thick clumps of finely divided leaves that are silvery gray and white woolly beneath. The star-shaped, Daisy-like, brilliant yellow flowers are produced singly on strong, thin stems over a long period in the summer. Eriophyllum caespitosum has green leaves and pretty yellow flowers.

Potting of eriophyllum

These plants need very well-drained soil that isn't too fertile and a sunny location. They will not thrive in a climate that is too wet.

Propagation of eriophyllum

Eriophyllum are increased by sowing seeds or dividing them in the spring.
